• Dress appropriately (see Dress Code for list of acceptable clothing)
• Turn off all cell phones and pagers
• Address the judge as “Your Honor” or “Judge”

• Be respectful to everyone in the courtroom—refrain from negative, offensive remarks or obscenities (even when in the hallway)
• Keep discussions about the case in the courtroom or the jury deliberation room.
• When asking questions, speak loudly and clearly and do not repeat questions that others have asked.
• Make eye contact with the person you are speaking to.
• Be alert and attentive
• Rise when the judge enters or leaves the court, unless told to remain seated
• No gum, food, or drinks are allowed in the courtroom
*Remember: As a juror, you are representing the Shasta County Youth/Peer Court. Your behavior before, during, and after court may affect how someone views the program.
